General information about the Archives mission and the collection
Archives Committee
The Intergroup Archives Committee is a subcommittee of the Rochester Area Intergroup committee. It meets the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm at the Rochester Medical Museum and Archives located at 333 Humboldt Street Rochester, New York 14610 (585) 922-1876. All A.A. members are welcome to attend.
Mission Statement
The Rochester Intergroup Archives is the repository of personal collections, Manuscripts, Publications, Photographs, and Memorabilia related to the origin and development of the Alcoholics Anonymous fellowship in the Rochester area.
Purpose
Consistant with A.A.'s primary purpose of maintaining our sobriety and helping other alcoholics achieve recovery, the Intergroup Archives will:
1. Receive, classify, and catalog all relevant material, such as administrative files and records, correspondence, and literary and artifactual works considered to have historical significance to the development of the A.A. fellowship in the Rochester Area.
2. Hold and preserve such material.
3. Provide access in accordance with the Archives committee's policies to members of Alcoholics Anonymous and to those of the public who may have a valid need to review such material with a commitment to preserve the anonymity of all A.A. members.
