Featured Committee of the Month for September 2017

Website Committee

Purpose of Committee:
The Website committee helps to develop, coordinate and maintain content on the Rochester Area Intergroup, Inc. sponsored website: www.rochester-ny-aa.org and to better carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous to the newcomer, its members, and anyone interested in our program of recovery, by way of electronic media while still adhering to our Traditions, Concepts and Principle of anonymity on the Internet.

How it helps the alcoholic who still suffers:
Our website has information on Alcoholics Anonymous for the newcomer, provides an updated meeting list/database, a calendar of events (AAR), special event information and registrations, flyers, standing committee information, as well as a members section for Intergroup meeting information and the ability to make electronic donations. It also has links to electronic copies of AA approved literature (e.g. Big Book, 12 and 12, pamphlets, etc.).

How you can grow spiritually by getting involved:
In today’s fast moving technological world, the site is often the first place that a newcomer goes to learn about our program of recovery. It can also offer important information and be a service to the membership of the Intergroup. More and more people are accessing the Internet for information and are relying on electronic data rather than hard copy paper formats. Participation on the committee can help us to keep the site relevant and to have its presentation and content kept current so that it is useful to both newcomers and long-timers. We are always interested in ideas and suggestions on how to make the site as informative and user-friendly as possible.
